VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star: A Story of Trading Places : Review + Giveaway

VeggieTales Princess and the Popstar DVD CoverFinding good television and movies for children can be a challenge and as a new mom I’m slowly learning what I am and am not comfortable with Baby Digger watching. I want it to be educational, fun and age appropriate of course. I was recently given the opportunity to review the new VeggieTales movie, VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star: A Story of Trading Places. I sat down with Baby Digger on Thursday afternoon and we watched it together. This is the first time I’ve watched any of the VeggieTales series and I have to say that I am very happy with the messages they teach and the Christian background. She usually gets to watch a bit of Nick Jr here and there and while I love their educational and fun shows it was nice to see a funny, cute and Christian based movie with a great message. We really enjoyed VeggieTales, Pinky loved the adorable vegetable characters and I actually did too! They are very cute and funny!

VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star: A Story of Trading Places is a tale of two Princess Poppyseed and Vanna Banana. Vanna Banana is a popular glamorous pop star and Princess Poppyseed is a farm girl. Each of the girls wishes they had one another’s lives. One day they cross paths and realize that they look a lot alike and decide to trade places. I won’t tell the whole story but the girls realize that the lives they thought they had wanted isn’t really what they wanted at all and learn that the life God has given them was planned by Him and lovingly designed and meant for them. It sends a great message to children that their lives were designed and planned out by God just for them and we shouldn’t wish for someone else’s life, be happy with who you are and the plan God has made for you. Not only was I happy with the message the movie sends but the music was pretty catchy too! Being a new mom, I am very glad to have found a great series I can feel good about my daughter watching.

Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana.  On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the crazy secret plan where they decide to switch lives!  As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.
