Our Stay At The Mission Point Resort On Mackinaw Island

I was provided with a complimentary hotel stay to facilitate my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Our Michigan summers are filled with trips up north and to the beach. One of my absolute favorite Michigan vacation spots is Mackinaw Island. I’ve been visiting this magical place since I was a child with my family.

What makes Mackinaw Island so special is it’s charm and beauty. You’re right between the upper and lower Michigan peninsula on an island where time has stood still. There are no cars just bikes, horses and horse drawn carriages. It’s simple, beautiful, relaxing and fun.

To get to the island you take a ferry ride that is anywhere from 30-50 mins long. From there Mission Point Resort offers a carriage ride for your luggage to the hotel. You can also take a ride on the carriage to the hotel but we opted to walk.

Here is a picture of the girls waiting for the ferry.

A few weeks ago my family and I took a mini vacation to Mackinaw and stayed at the Mission Point Resort right on the island.

To start, the Mission Point Resort grounds are gorgeous. The view from anywhere is picturesque.

There is a lovely seating area where you can sit in a comfortable adirondack chair and watch the tide roll in on the shore. My family and I spent a lot of time there. My husband and I sat and relaxed and the girls played and flew their kite.

After enjoying the views at the resort we decided to head up to our room for the first time. It was a short but beautiful walk from the check in desk to our room, the grounds are wonderfully cared for and filled with lovely flowers and plants and winding walkways.

We stayed in a family suite that had 1 bathroom and 2 rooms. One for the adults and one for the kids. Each had a television and we also requested a refrigerator in the room so we could have cold drinks and snacks for everyone.  Mission-point-resort-hotel-rooms mission-point-resort-review

The room was cozy and very nicely sized for a family. One other great thing is we got to bring our pup with us because Mission Point Resort is pet friendly! We love taking our dog with us on vacations and we’re thrilled that he could come with us.

The resort offers many activities for families including story time and cookies with their Moose mascot, a golf course, a putting course that was also lit up in colorful lights for a nighttime game, crafts, kite flying and a pool.

If you’re into spooky stuff the hotel also has a haunted history. It was even featured on the popular series Ghost Hunters! The hotel offers guided tours sharing the history of the hauntings at the hotel.

The staff was also very helpful and friendly. A few pieces of our luggage didn’t make it to the hotel on the first trip but they quickly found them for us and happily brought them to our room.

enjoying-breakfastIf you want to dine out there are 4 restaurants on site. We ate breakfast one morning at the breakfast buffet. The food was good and there were lots of options but it was pricey and prices weren’t posted anywhere that I saw. This would be my only complaint about our stay. mackinaw-island

My family and I had a wonderful time at Mission Point Resort! We were looking to get a lot of rest and relaxation and fun, it was the perfect vacation and the Mission Point Resort definitely made it happen. I would definitely recommend staying there if you plan to visit Mackinaw Island. There are lots of activities for families and being able to bring your 4-legged family members is great.

Mackinaw is truly a magical place and Mission Point Resort does it right – it’s cozy, has great family sized suites, picturesque views, convenient dining options and lots of fun activities.
