Our Master Bedroom Redesign
We bought our home over 6 years ago and I dove head first into decorating it. We painted the walls, bought all the furniture with expensive window coverings and all. For the most part, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out but the one room that was an EPIC fail in my opinion was our bedroom.
The paint colors I choose were incredibly dark and the blinds I choose were blackout shades tie that in with the fact that the windows in the room face north and you have yourself a bona fide mushroom factory.
I’m not a morning person as it is and waking up in our room is well… a real challenge. So, I made the decision that it was time for a master bedroom redesign!
Dark and cavelike, isn’t it? A master bedroom should feel like a retreat. Ours just felt like a dungeon.
So, here are my goals with our master bedroom redesign:
1: Lighten it up and make it feel like a relaxing retreat
2: Find a color that compliments our dark furniture better
Here is more of the look I’m going for –

Don’t you just want to snuggle up and read a book in this room?!
I want our bedroom to feel refreshing, vitalizing and cozy. After a long hard day I want to step into our bedroom and relax. My husband and I love DIY projects (remember our Pergo flooring project?) and will be taking this project on ourselves and I can’t wait to show you the results!
I’m excited to show you the progress we’re making! You can also check out my Bedroom Redesign & Inspiration Pinterest board to see photos of our handy work along the way (and you might just be able to guess which paint color I choose!).
Sherwin-Williams is providing paint, Hunter is providing lighting and Blinds.com will be providing window coverings for our redesign. I was not paid for this mention, I just wanted to let you know.
