2014 Kia Soul Review

I was given a vehicle loan for a week to try the Kia Soul for a week.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw the commercials for the Kia Soul. You know, the one with the cute, hip hamsters? Love them!

Recently I had the chance to check out the 2014 Kia Soul, for one week my husband and I tooled around town in this baby.

Yes, it’s super bright green – Alien Green to be specific :) A color I’d normally not like I think it works on the Kia Soul, it’s edgy and fun just like the rest of the vehicle.

The exterior is modern, compact and stylish. Clean lines and a modern boxy shape that I love.

The interior is beautiful! The first thing you’re likely to notice is the full length moon roof. It opens leaving a large space to let sunshine and the wind blow through your hair.

The dashboard is just so pretty and intuitive. The buttons for controlling the stereo, bluetooth, volume and cruise control are all nicely placed for easy access without ever having to take your eyes off the road.

The navigation and radio are all on the HUGE touch screen located in the center of the dash. The buttons are large making it easy to quickly get to where you want be it your favorite station or punching in the address of your destination.

The UVO system within the Kia Soul offers roadside assistance that can be accessed with your Bluetooth connected smartphone. It also has UVO’s Digital Jukebox where you can upload your own music to and listen on the Infinity® Premium Sound System.

One of my favorite features and one I HAVE to have in any car I drive is a Rear Camera Display.

A close second favorite is The Parking Minder feature that allows you to save your vehicle’s parking location and use your smartphone’s GPS guidance to get you back to your vehicle. Very useful when going to big events or theme parks.

Seating was comfortable for both front passengers and my two small rear passengers in their car seats. If you have a tall passenger though I’d recommend they sit up front, the back seats are a bit tight.

My husband couldn’t stop talking about how well the Kia Soul drives. He used to own a Cadillac CTS and he said that the Kia Soul handled just like it and made him feel like he was driving his Caddy again. Needless to say, he drove it A LOT that week!

It also gets great gas mileage – up to 24 city, 31 highway!

The trunk space if you have the rear seats in the upward position is a bit tight. I don’t think I could have packed all the groceries for my family of 4. It did have a decent amount for a compact vehicle though. Plus, it also has a little hidden compartment in the trunk for extra storage.

The rear seats can fold forward for even more storage space. It would have made a great weekend getaway car for me and the hubs (dreaming…).

It was a bit tight for all four of us to ride in but if you don’t have children or have 1 child it would definitely be a great car for you.

We all really loved the 2014 Kia Soul. It’s fun to drive, has a great style and I loved the comfortable seating in the interior. Oh, and another thing and this made me feel young, when you have the music on and it’s night time the speakers have a sweet ambient glow that pulsates with the music. Nice touch that also made me feel like a teenager again :)

Other features include:

•Navigation with SIRIUS Traffic
•Push Button Start with Smart Key
•Rear View Backup Camera
•Heated Front Seats
•Automatic Climate Control

If you’re looking for a compact vehicle I would definitely recommend trying out a 2014 Kia Soul. AND, they are affordable – the 2014 model starts at $14,400 the model I drove with all the bells and whistles has a MSRP of $23,575.00.
